Original Air: Michael Jordan Game-Worn and Player Exclusive Sneaker Rarities
Online 30 July - 13 August 2020

The Jordan 5 is another masterpiece designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Nike designer behind the Air Max 1, Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4, and a number of other iconic models from Nike and Jordan Brand. Michael Jordan first debuted the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” at the 1990 NBA All-Star Weekend during his participation in the 3-Point Contest. Unlike the retail release, the 1990 player edition displayed a customized “23” embroidered in a bold font on each heel for Jordan. This model features an asymmetrical ankle collar, lace lock, clear rubber on the outsole, and reflective material on the tongues, all firsts for a basketball sneaker.

This original “Fire Red” colorway of the Air Jordan 5 was re-released this summer, selling out instantly at retailers globally.

This pair was sourced from a former Nike employee in the mid-1990s. Included is the original Air Jordan 5 box, which is a specially numbered limited edition.
