The rectangular box with overhanging cover decorated in gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, gold and aogai kirikane on a black lacquer and sparse nashiji ground with wasps among flowering foliage, the interior cover decorated in gold and red takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, gold and aogai kirikane on a black lacquer and nashiji ground with a red moon above rockwork rising from crashing waves, the box sprinkled with nashiji on a black lacquer ground, gold rims
