Sale Overview
Artist Suzie Zuzek’s enchanting designs are instantly recognizable. Playful and eclectic, they catapulted on to the fashion scene via garments by Lilly Pulitzer from 1962-1985. Zuzek’s immense creativity and talent as an artist cemented the phenomenon that influenced a generation of Americans. Zuzek was a first-generation American artist whose prints were seen from the shores of the East Coast to the pages of Vogue and on bold faced names such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Wendy Vanderbilt. This sale includes forty-three original Zuzek watercolors, now on the market for the first time. Many of these works were highlights of Zuzek’s 2021 solo exhibition at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. Suzie Zuzek: The Artist Behind Lilly Pulitzer showcases the breadth of Zuzek’s ouvre from mythical creatures to cosmology to the flora and fauna of the Florida Keys and beyond. All forty-three works will be on view at Christie’s Palm Beach at 247 Worth Avenue from 24 March – 7 April.
