Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall in sound decorative condition and ready to place. With typical scattered light nicks, faint surface scuffs, marks and scratches. The red and gilt decoration refreshed, and with some general rubbing, some flaking and losses revealing bare metal. With some minor oxidation and tarnish along the bottom edge primarily. The decoration to the top of the torchere possibly later, with some further restoration and touch up, including to the center in the sky, and to the cliffs on the right side. The hot water jug with some further light surface wear and some tarnish to the interior, consistent with age and use. With a few minor dings and nicks as to be expected. With some lifting and flaking to the decoration, including to the support on the handle. The spout lacking spigot. Present well together.
The hot water jug measures: 171⁄2 in. high, 7 in. deep, 121⁄4 in. deep, on stand
