Sale Overview
Christie’s is thrilled to present The University of Pennsylvania mRNA NFT: Vaccines for a New Era. This one of a kind NFT is uniquely designed by The University of Pennsylvania and Dr. Drew Weissman, co-inventor of the mRNA technology that has enabled mRNA-based COVID vaccines and is now serving as the basis for burgeoning research of an ever expanding list of targeted therapeutics for some of the world’s most devastating diseases. The NFT features a spectacular 3D visual of the mRNA molecule at the heart of this critical scientific breakthrough and the funds raised by its sale will help further this important research.
This one of a kind NFT features a breathtaking one-minute 3D video of the type of engineered mRNA protecting the immune system from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Through brilliant use of color, shape, movement, and sound, the video shows mRNA encapsulated inside of lipid nanoparticles and administered via a vaccine, thereby protecting people from the coronavirus. The NFT also features an explainer, Penn-owned mRNA patent documents, and an original letter from Dr. Weissman himself.
Proceeds from the auction will support ongoing research activities at the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine. The University of Pennsylvania mRNA NFT: Vaccines for a New Era runs exclusively online from 15-25 July.
