BREGUET, ‘MONTRE À RÉPÉTITION’ QUARTER REPEATING LEVER WATCH
According to the Archives of Montre Breguet, the present watch was sold to Monsieur Ch. Duverdy on 17 March 1864 for 1,200 Francs.
The movement is fitted with a high quality calibrated and counterpoised straight line lever escapement, exposed ruby pallets and moustache-shaped fork tail, temperature-compensating bimetallic balance with gold adjustment screws and Breguet balance spring, all-or-nothing type repeating mechanism activated by a slide at 2 o’clock. The going train is jewelled to the third wheel and the repeating train is fully jewelled.
This is a particularly well-finished watch for the period and a fine example of the timepieces being sold by the House of Breguet in the second half of the 19th century.
