Sale Overview

This July, Christie’s is thrilled to present The World Is A Sphere: Art from the Faurschou Foundation, a curated online auction of works from the collection of the Faurschou Foundation. The selection of works is sold to benefit the Foundation’s innovative exhibition programme, which over the past decade has championed rich cross-cultural exchange between East and West. With locations in Copenhagen, Beijing and New York, the Foundation fosters a progressive and uncompromising dialogue between artists from different sides of the world, reflecting the dynamics of an increasingly globalised society.

The auction will offer over 50 carefully selected works from the Foundation’s collection. Showcasing iconic Asian Contemporary works by Ai Weiwei, Liu Xiaodong and Yu Hong, the auction will also include an outstanding selection of European and American works by Anselm Kiefer, Georg Baselitz, Per Kirkeby, Robert Rauschenberg and Simone Leigh. A group of artworks in the auction has been donated directly by artists including Shirin Neshat, Subodh Gupta, Sun Xun and Yu Ji, reflecting the foundation’s close relationship with artists they have worked with and promoted for many years.
