Sale Overview
In honour of the United States’ 250th anniversary, The American Collector sale will celebrate the nation’s legacy through a showcase of exceptional Americana as well as offering collections curated by important American figures. The sale brings together a dynamic selection of traditional American folk art, furniture, silver, and rare books and manuscripts — each reflecting American cultural heritage and creative spirit.
Highlighting connoisseurship and the personal stories behind collecting, the sale will also feature property from distinguished and iconic American collections, including a selection from the Property of Mr and Mrs John D Rockefeller 3rd from the Collection of Sandra Ferry Rockefeller; an exciting group of folk art and game boards from The Bruce and Doranna Wendel Collection; the American historical autograph collection of the late Felipe Propper de Callejon; and highlights from the collection of Mrs and President Jimmy Carter, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Carter Family Foundation, a charitable organisation that continues to support the projects of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter with a special emphasis on the rural Georgia community they loved.
