There are inevitable scratches, marks, scuffs, abrasions, dents, knocks and areas of discolouration overall consistent with age and use. The top with scattered marks and blemishes and slightly warped. Lifting of the veneers and a few patched restorations. The top has been replaced and has been stained; it is constructed in strips and some of these are lifting/have moved over time, giving the top an uneven quality and appearance. Areas of restorations to the edge of the top. Two shrinkage cracks on each side of the commode. The sides have been painted to simulate walnut graining. In general, there are losses, restorations and replacements to the marquetry of the drawers. The escutcheons to all the drawers have been removed. The drawer runners are later and there are 20th century timbers to the interior of the carcase. The handles possibly replaced. Evidence of old apparently inactive woodworm. Structurally stable.
