A BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN ON A LOTUS BASE
CHINA, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The bodhisattva is seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base supported on a galleried hexagonal plinth. She has downcast eyes and a benevolent expression. Her hair is finely detailed and upswept into a top knot beneath a foliate crown, two long braids trail down her shoulders. The robes are loosely draped about the body and open at her bejewelled chest, the hems are finely incised with a scrolling floral border and beaded edge.
