Sale Overview
Christie’s New York is honored to present The Collection of A. Jerrold Perenchio, offering works of art from one of America’s most beautiful homes in the hills of Bel Air.
Created by architect Sumner Spaulding in 1935, Chartwell, as the magnificent mansion is known today, was the ultimate nod to 18th century France. In the winter of 1986, the estate was purchased by its third owner in history, Mr. Perenchio, who oversaw an epic five-year renovation led by the renowned French interior designer Henri Samuel.
A California Life offers tailored Henri Samuel designs from the estate, in addition to memorabilia from Mr. Perenchio’s life as a talent agent in sports and Hollywood, the porcelain and silver services that entertained the industry, and additional photographs, post-war and contemporary art and 20th century design. This sale is an opportunity for those starting their collections as well as established connoisseurs to acquire desirable works across a range of categories and prices.
Viewing of lots may be arranged by appointment. Please contact the sale team for more information.
