The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting is on an uncradled panel and consists of three sheets of wood, reinforced in the middle by pieces of wood and in the lower part by a piece of canvas. Three boards sheets of wood.
The panel is stable and straight.
With the naked eye we can see a slightly discoloured restoration along the joins (upper centre in the sky).
Examination under UV light reveals a restoration along the afore mention joins, some scattered restorations in the sky, and on the horizon, in the centre right retouched wood grain. Restoration to the boat in the foreground and strengthening on some of the figures, strengthening on the date and also scattered throughout to the water.
Otherwise, the sprayed varnish is lighting up green, possibly obscuring older restoration campaigns.
In a modern black wood frame (approx. 76 x 99 cm)
