Le tableau est exécuté sur un panneau de chêne composé de plusieurs planches verticales ayant été parqueté. Le deuxième montant du parquet (en partant de la gauche) est renforcé, le long du bord droit, par quatre taquets verticaux sur quasi l'entièreté de la hauteur du tableau. Le quatrième montant (en partant également de la gauche) est quant à lui renforcé par un taquet vertical parallèle, ajouté à droite au niveau du coin inférieur droit. Le support est stable.
A l'oeil nu, on constate d'importants repeints dans le costume de la reine, tout particulièrement dans le blanc des manches et le noir de la robe, ainsi que dans les fonds où l'on peut voir une une campagne de restaurations ayant viré. Les restaurations dans les fonds sont pour certaines associées à des départs de fentes verticales (certaines étant des jointures de planches), celles-ci ayant fait l'objet de consolidation (parquetage) et de restauration (intégrations). Dans la partie supérieure du tableau, on en compte six, contre trois dans la partie inférieure. Le visage de la reine, traversé verticalement en son centre par une jointure de planche, a également fait l'objet d'une campagne de restauration. Des repeints sont aussi visibles sur les mains de la reine. Sous un vernis fin.
L'examen à l'UV révèle les restaurations susmentionnées et permet d'appréhender au moins deux campagnes de restauration dans les fonds et dans le costume. Sous un vernin fin, non homogène.
La matière reste stable.

The painting is executed on an oak panel made up of several vertically joined boards that have been cradled. The second board from the left is reinforced along the right-hand edge by four vertical cleats running almost the entire height of the painting. The fourth board from the left is reinforced by a parallel vertical cleat added to the right at the bottom right-hand corner. The support is stable.
Examination in natural light shows extensive overpainting of the Queen's costume, particularly in the white of the sleeves and the black of the dress, as well as in the backgrounds, where some of the retouching has somewhat discoloured. Some of the restorations in the backgrounds are associated with vertical cracks and panel joins, which have been consolidated and restored (integrations). There are six cracks in the upper part of the painting and three in the lower part. The panel join that runs through the Queen's face has been retouched. Repainting is also visible on the queen's hands. Under a fine varnish.
UV examination confirms the above-mentioned restorations and makes it possible to identify at least two restoration campaigns in the backgrounds and in the costume. Under a fine, uneven varnish. The paint remains stable.
