103 x 91 x 9 cm).
English
The canvas has been subject to relining, it is held under correct tension on a keyed stretcher. The lower part of the canvas shows traces of sodium residue to the reverse. In natural light, a network of craquelure can be seen in the lower left-hand corner, this has a minor associated loss. Examination under UV light reveals an area of restoration associated with the network of craquelure mentioned above. There is a slightly large area of restoration the right side of the bridge parapet and one in the sky in the centre of the composition above the canal. There is some further minor scattered retouching. In a giltwood stucco frame with a cartouche ‘Venice / Franz Richard UNTERBERG’ (approx. 103 x 91 x 9 cm).
