Le tableau est peint sur sa toile d'origine et est probablement sur son châssis d'origine. Le support est stable.
On constate une restauration au revers de la toile.

A l'oeil nu, on constate une restauration sur la surface peinte correspondant à celle au revers de la toile, ainsi qu'une autre dans les arbres.

A l'UV, on constate que quelques parties brunes ont été légèrement remontées ainsi que des restaurations ponctuelles dans le ciel. Quelques craquelures ont été comblées dans le bras. Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un nettoyage récent, avec des traces de vieux vernis par endroits.

The canvas is unlined and is likely on its original stretcher. It is held under tension and remains stable. There is a minor restoration to the reverse of the canvas.

In natural light the painting very presents well, with the details of the composition well preserved. There is a small restoration visible that corresponds with the aforementioned minor damage to the canvas.

Examination under UV light shows that some of the browns have been marginally strengthened. There is some minor scattered retouching in the sky. There is a network of craquelure, which has been infilled in the sitter’s arm. The painting has been recently cleaned, there are some traces of the historic varnish. The paint remains stable.
