The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

65 x 58 cm.).

The distracted student
The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The relining process has slightly flattened the impasto in some areas.
The painting presents well in natural light, with the painterly approach to composition well preserved, notably in the hair. There is some scattered retouching in the background.
Examination under UV light is precluded by the thickness of the varnish, which prevents a more in-depth examination. Retouching can be seen along the four canvas edges, likely due to prior frame abrasion. The paint remains stable.
In an 18th century giltwood and stucco frame (approx. 65 x 58 cm.).
