The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This relined canvas is held under tension and remains stable. The surface of the paint layer has experienced some abrasion over time, particularly in the darker passages of the browns, such as in the ground and tree bark. Ultraviolet examination reveals extensive infilling of the craquelure in the sky, as well as scattered restoration in the foliage in the upper quadrant and two larger areas of damage in the lower right corner. Further isolated retouching is visible throughout, however the artist's painterly technique remains appreciable.
