The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This three-piece panel is held under tension by a cradle and remains structurally stable. Previous restoration is visible in the darker passages of the background, particularly in the centre left along the top panel join and in some of the darker passages. Ultraviolet examination reveals a thick layer of obscuring varnish, with more recent restoration visible in the shadows of the woman’s face and her apron, along with scattered retouching in the background. The painting details and the artist’s technique remain highly appreciable.
