The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is reinforced with a glue lining on the reverse. The varnish is minimally yellowed, with a fine craquleure throughout, most notably in the flesh tones. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows passages of restoration concentrated in the background, feathered retouchings and an approximately 1 inch long area to address a loss on the sitter's thumb. Further lines of restoration address frame abrasion along the extreme edges. The picture should be hung in its current state.
